My friend's mom needs a new charger for an HP(I beleive) laptop - I told him i thought chargers are proprietary and i wouldn't be able to find a cheap one online, but i thought I would check here first to make sure

I don't know much about laptops so I figured you guys could help out. thanks!

EDIT: I checked newegg, and they sell AC adapters on there. But once again, I don't know much about this stuff so what are some that give good results without breaking the bank?

Find old charger and there should be model number on it. Look it up by that model number and manufacture, newegg, ebay. Manufactures usually use same brick for more than one type of laptop.

The adapter for my Acer died so I picked up this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834999554

It has 5 different sized adapters and you can change the voltage to whatever is needed.
