i would like to move my amd black edition 5000+ at 3.2ghz to an htpc...
i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of low profile coolers that will be able to handle the heat put out by that overclock?

I have heard good things about the Mini-Ninja with push/pull config on the fans for HTPCs. It's prolly a little bit noisy but that may not be an issue for you?

not an issue, as long as it keeps cool...
i think that i will be using 4 fans, and a controller... 2x 120mm 2x 80mm in push pull...

You might want to wait awhile. Thermalright is going to be releasing a heatsink for HTPCs. It's a six heatpipe low profile heatsink that can use a 140mm fan.

Isn't this rather low profile?

I have a CM Vortex 752 cooler designed for HTCPs and this doesn't look to be much taller. (I'm looking to change to full size now but this one interests me.

most likely not as the SI-120 actually is pretty tall for a htpc case!! I would also wait for the new AXP-140 (I think that's what it's called) from Thermalright.

Thats the one, I couldn't remember the model number. I can't wait to see reviews for this thing. As it would be nice to have a better cooler for my quad that would fit in a HTPC case.
