I see Vista has "disk stripping" (Raid 0) built into the disk management tool. What it doesn't have, however, is support for Raid 0. My motherboard does not have a raid controller, and I don't plan on buying one. I would much rather have a software setup. Suggestions? Simply looking for redundancy.

You would need to set 2+ disks as Dynamic Disks in Disk Management. Then right click one and create a new volume. It will then allow you to select Raid 0 or 1, along with JBOD. Choose Raid 1 for redundancy, then select the 2nd disk and you are set.

Ok- i have to dynamic disks now. One is completely empty (and unallocated.) The other has 200 gb's or so in files (over 2 separate partitions.) I can't figure out where the RAID option is.

I can read Tuskan.Well hey, you asked the question after the answer was given.............I would say that indicated a lack of comprehension.

Vista Does not Support Raid 1 (mirrored) drives. XP does though. For the time being I have scheduled automatic backups to take place every night. Plans for the future include striping everything and automatically backing up to a networked computer.
