View Full Version : GPU block on a CPU???
As with most my projects i always run into a hitch. My latest project is running into a clearance issue. I am trying to fit a block onto my cpu. I am running in a severly confined space which is why im opting for water. I have about 3-4cm of clearance above the cpu to stuff a block in. I am debating on trying to fix a GPU block into the CPU. The way most fittings are piped out should give me teh clearances needed to stuff it into the confined space. My main concern is that the CPU may not get sufficent cooling. I plan to run a QX6700 with possibly a slight OC. Has anyone ever tried such a screwed up cooling sceme?
(i can supply pix if needed)
Welcome!
If you wanted to, I bet you could pull it off, as most GPU blocks are based on CPU designs. Luckily, you won't have to, as Swiftec has a 1U Apogee part out. I know Petra's Tech Shop (http://www.petrastechshop.com/swap775wa1.html) is carrying the part right now, but other resellers may be as well. Best of luck with getting the loop up, and don't be afraid to post some more questions!
what about elbows directly in the block
would that do the trick ?
i'm not sure of how much space that would require
i would guess you could get some low profile ones at a plummer or some like it

Would the Apogee 1U help your clearance issues any?
i think the apogee 1U may do the trick, now the trick is making the build's deadline.

Actually, it'll be nice to have pics, whether necessary or otherwise :).
Since we're on this topic, would a ek-supreme CPU block cool a 4870 better to say a GFX 2?
