(Have the v6.22 Console running on the E8400 system in my sig on Vista64)
using the '-smp 2' flag but still there are 4 cores running in taskmanager?!
Daily WU/PPD output seems ok but is this normal?

Same thing for me. Thought it was strange as well but i guess its normal.
smp shows 4 threats AFAIK
but it is only using 2 cores if your running a core 2 :D

Would this mean you can now use this new v6.22 on a Quad without the hassle of using VMware and a Linux/Windows combo?! Simply install it and it will use all 4 cores?! If so I'm pulling my hair out cuz I decided on a E8400 instead of a Q6600 just for that reason!!!
SMP has always run 4 threads up until the new client and cores added the ability to run more. Currently the ability to run less than 4 threads doesn't exist. If you have a C2D it runs the 4 cores on 2 cpu cores. If you have a C2Q, it runs one thread per core and always has. Running VMware is not necessary to use four cores. In fact on a C2Q, you have to run two VMs to use the 4 cores. VMware is useful in boosting production due to the Linux client being 15% more efficient than the Windows client, while VM overhead is only 4%, an 11% gain. VMware clients avoid "quad only" WUs that were low producers until p2665 came out. Affinity Changer (and p2665) has boosted production of the Windows client to the point that VMware isn't necessary except for use with C2Q/SMP +GPU rigs, where the affinity of the vmware-vmx process sticks until a reboot.
