View Full Version : "Power Calibration error"??

what does that mean? i get it whenever i try to burn a cd. funny, it only happens on my main computer but when i tried it on my other it worked, but only when i tried to burn certain files. both comps are running win xp. my burner is th Aopen 1232A, anybody know what this error means and wether its fixable?

Well, most of the stuff I read said that it may be a bad CD-R. Try changing brands and see if that helps.

Here's a snipped form Sony's site about one of their burners:

The CDR blank disc has a section outside the standard recording area called the Program Calibration Area which is used to adjust the laser for the brand of media you're using. The error means that the drive is having trouble calibrating the power settings. Possible solutions are to try different brands of media. If it occurs with every disc, then the drive should be checked. Contact Sony of Canada's Computer Products Helpdesk at Telephone number 1-800-961-7669, option #2, for further instructions.

thanks for the reply. hmmm, well, i dont have any other brands. i bought a 50-pack of compusa brand cdr's and i've already gone through half of them no problem. i'll try to bum some off of my friends tommorrow
