i recently switched from 98se to 2k and want to know how you kill aps and processes running in the background. It doesnt seem as obvious as it was with 98 as i seem to have loads running constantly

any help appreciated

hold down ctrl shift and esc

that takes you to the task manager ( cntrl alt delete in 98)


then go to the applications tab and look for what you want to kill
ORRRRRRR
go to the processes tab and that gives you a list of absoultly every thing thats running ( even things like the explorer shell)

so becuare full in that one.

There are barely anything running in the background you should, leave the system with all your applications closed and then open the task manager and check the CPU usage barely 1% for me.

bout 1% for me too...that's how i can tell when something that shouldn't be running is...if i'm doing everything like normal and i'm up around 45%-50% then something's up :D
