I have 3 computers that i am tring to network. two of them have win2k and the other has win98. They are all connected to a switch, with the cable modem connected to that. I can get the win2k machines to work if i use netbios and ipx but i cannot get the third to work. The machines wont even ping one another. Anyone know what is wrong with this.

Do you have an account created on the win2k machines for the win98 machine and for the other 2k machine?
If so and still does'nt work try installing the NetBeui protocol on all three boxes.
Let us know how it all works.
I agree, make sure you accounts created for every computer. Do the two with Win2k ping each other?

None of the machines ping one another, in network neighborhood i cant see any other computers. I have the accounts working I think.

If they wont even ping each other then check all hardware first to see if something isn't working right then try to uninstall the network components and reinstalling them make sure that the win2k computers have accounts for the win98 computer on them. Make sure that all of the computers are in the same workgroup. To get on the internet you need TCP/ip protocol for each computer. to get each computer to see the others you need file and printer sharing turned on and you need nebeui/netbios on all of the machines.
