It's definitely safe.

Like Ruf mentioned if it is stable you shouldn't worry about a thing and do anything you want.

If you have any doubts revert to base speeds before carrying out such operations.

Please note however - the same corruption that could happen during a disk enhancing operation could also become apparent in everyday use.
