Do heatercores have to face a certain direction or something? or can i just run it any way flip flop it around and whatnot...?
As long as you have removed all possible air from the system, so that only water is flowing through the core, the orientation should not matter as long as whatever orientation you use places the fans in such manner that their airflow is not restricted.
Wow, nice run-on sentence =P Hope it's understood!
Absolutely Aasik.
If you place it with the fittings at the bottom, trapped air could stop waterflow through a portion of the core. However, if you can prime the system with the fittings on top, and then mount it, it would be fine.
It happened in my first cooler system. I found out accidentally. I didn't run a reservior, but had gotten all the air bubbles out of the water in three days of runtime (as seen through the tubing) with a 't' setup. I happened to tip the case while installing the mobo, and a deluge of bubbles turned the water mix to white again. I spent another day waiting to turn the mobo on cause bubbles don't cool too well. If I had had a reservior at the time, it wouldn't have been a problem.
By the way, it was foaming cause I used the tiniest portion of a drop of dishsoap to kill surface tension. Man that stuff goes a long way. Now I just put a drop of soap in a full glass of water and use a teaspoon of the mix.
Just a thought...have fun.
