View Full Version : Finally finished car upgrade
http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d72/Rydis/
First pics of car are before followed by after pics. Was easier this way then uploading pics one by one. Took about 100 hours and I know the seat covers are a bad...but they are a pain and ill save up for real seats eventually..

I really like the exterior, the black and red flows well with that car. I'm not a fan of red interiors. Thats just me though if it didn't come like that form the factory it looks very well done.
Although im going to have to scold you for that fart can hanging out back. Those really drive me insane, although, again it all personal preference.
Any goodies under the hood?
the grey/white was factory. The red is what I did...I also bought it with that muffler so..didn't feel like changing it..its got an aftermarket intake but thats it. Its not a racer, I just wanted it to look the way i wanted it...nice...I didn't like the black/white/grey.
Looks nice bro, exterior is really sharp. Dash looks pretty nice also.
Uhhh:eh?:
I have a bad feeling that those painted interior parts are not going to hold up. Those materials are designed to be anti-stick. It's a potential nightmare if it does start flaking off. Be careful of that.
Also, rims over drum brakes and stock ride height = :(

yeah, it scracthes easily but I dont think it will flake. Sanded it all down well..primered and a few coats + clear coats.
Only the back brakes are drums though...

Looks good, might want to get a bigger set of rims and lower it a little bit. Kinda looks like you are using spare tires.
they're 16's, I can't go above 18 without manual modification and 18's were an extra 120 a piece. I was thinking about lowering it...not sure the cost of that yet though...

There is just something I don't understand about modifying FWD econoboxes.
Serious question--
Does that muffler make more cops pay attention to you? I have always wondered that. I have an exhaust on my mustang, but those melon shooters can usually be heard from half a mile.

plenty of fwd econoboxes are faster than many "sporty" cars, such as the new challenger, or at least comparable. It's like modifying a v6 mustang.

I really like it. The exterior looks really slick with the black on black, but like mentioned above the tires / rims look tiny.
I'm also not sure if it's the picture but the seat covers look loose, try to make em tighter so there isn't any sag to them. I really like the color of the seat covers though.
Black head lamp covers would look pretty cool too if you want to add something like that later.

hehe. Your half way right there. There are plenty of FWD "sport" cars that are decently high performance. This is obviously not one.
SRT4 for example, yes its a crappy econobox, but it does have some damn decent go-go power to it.

Challenger SE Slalom 600ft:
Slalom (600 feet) 59.5 mph
Challenger R/T Slalom 600ft:
Slalom (600 feet) 62.4 mph
Honda Fit Slalom 600ft:
Slalom (600 feet) 64.1 mph
109hp fit 16.95 sec
250hp challenger 16.1 sec
That is one of the weakest cars currently sold in the US, and it's comparable to a car most would assume to be lightning fast. When you throw cars like GTIs or MS3s in the mix, they start blowing away a lot more than you'd expect.

What is econobox?

Ohh...ok...I came from 2 more luxury based cares compared to my SRT-4 and I like it a lot more...very simple interior...clean looking...if that's what econobox is based on.

because modification is cheap if you do it yourself. And no..the muffler is not really all that loud at all...unless your accelerating fast you wont even hear it comming down the street.
If you look at it this way though...its just liking taking low end processors and seeing how far you can push them...some are very decent while otheres are very bad. A cobalt with the right upgrades measures up past eclipses, mustangs, ect...just do a search on youtube for them. However...I wasn't modifing this to be a racer, I just wanted it to look how I wanted it to look and that shouldn't matter how expensive the car original was or what it was intended for. Kinda of stupid to think that just because someone changes the interior and puts rims on a car they are trying to imitate racing cars...now if I was reving at a red light or somethings..thats different lol.
As for cops...no I have never even been pulled over before...and going over the interstate here I do between 75-90. But thats also why I didn't tint my windshield...the tint is 15% and legal limit for FL is 28%...if I did that windshield im just looking to draw attention...though I wish I went 10% a darker tint would of looked better.

of course they're better, id like the new camaro myself instead of this...but its mine, so I can be proud of it. I wanted the new RS8, but this car is paid off and I dont want another payment heh.

Your tires are waaaaaaay too thick. If you were to get low profile, high performance tires, I almost guarantee you can get 18"s on that, plus the rims wouldn't look so......um......out of place.
Other than that, It looks very nice.

+1 for losing the seat covers
+1 for getting less sidewall, more rim :)
interior doesn't look too bad though.

I have enough contrast on the inside I think...all cars unless debadged have what they are called on it...thats the only place mine has it so I fail to see how it differs then little chrome letters..
