Im not exactly a CS fan, but i got a good deal. 50$ can. for HL, OF and CS. So install everything, fire up the game, go to controls, what!!!!!!!! i cant use "caps lock" to go backwards? I know its not like everyone, but i like it that way, i always played with - caps lock(back) A(strafe left) S(forward) D(strafe right) im never lifting my finger from any key, so i like it, i feel it gives me a better reaction time. 50 bucks for a game i will probly never play:(
If you like to use and linear type of control, why not try:
a(back) s(strafe left) d(forward) f(strafe right)
it's the same!
:D
hope this helps.

Well I must say, that totally sux! Is it the same for all games ( HL OF CS ) ??? If it is, then it seems that you wasted your 50 bucks unless you find a new config for your movement keys. I know that most of the really good players of CS use their own configs but I use the defualt movement keys that the game has.
w ( foward ) s ( back ) a ( strafe left ) d ( strafe right )
Then I base the rest of my keys around them.
Anyways, hope you work something out. :)
Luie seems to have the best answer... Just shift everything over to the right 1, and then make sure you are putting your hand on the right keys :D
My Keys (no HL for me...):
[shift] = forward
x = backward
a = fire primary
[space] = fire secondary

I did try shifting everything 1 key to the right, but after 1 year of playing like that its kinda hard to learn, i always find myself strafing left (S key) which i would normally use to go forward. Its a habit and all my other games are based on this key config (Q3A, R6-all of em, AvP2, GR, Max Payne, Tribes2 and UT.)

Pshh. That's nothin'.
When I upgraded to Windows XP, I lost the function of the thumb button on my mouse (MOUSE3 in Windows 98, MOUSE4 in WindowsXP) in all Quake 3 based games.
Q3 based games only recognize 3 mouse buttons. So now I have to use the damn WHEEL button to reload, as opposed the the comfortable, and habitial thumb button.
In a FPS, the mouse is everything. At least you have a solution, just shift your key config one key to the right. I have to adjust all my mouse-clicking-habits.

I know its hard, but I'm sure that if you keep practiceing then you will get used to it. Don't give up!! :D
Actually, if you have the latest version of Cstrike (1.3), you can bind capslock to your controls.
Go here for the update:

BTW, it is a HUGE download, so be patient.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the link, ill try it tonight. I have DSL so no worries there:D
I usually use WSAD for moving, and base other stuff around that. In Quake3 and the like, I'll use my right mouse button to switch weapons.

That's my control style of preference, though I have to shift it over by one for Tribes 2 (I run out of buttons to the left if I don't). I tend to take a bit of time to get used to the controls when moving from cstrike to T2. :)

I take it you figured out how to to bind it. :D
There is a overclockers.com clan, I'd check with ONI or Legionaire for info on joining. I was part, but Tribes2 took over my life (well, that and school and work and ffx) :cool:
