Well I received my rma from NEWEGG (GREAT support so far we'll see about tomorrow when I can complain more!) and this one too is DOA AND has a CRACKED PCB!!!?!?!!:mad::mad:

Has anyone else had this problem with DIAMOND?

might have been broken after inspection, who knows... Diamond isn't usually this terrible, I buy alot of their stuff since its Canadian and never run into this much bad luck.

Unfortunately you're just experiencing a string of bad luck.

We all go through it friend. Just be patient and you will be rewarded with many virgins in the after life.

Back when the 8800GTS 640 came out, I was on a 6600GT. (Yeah, that's a pretty out-dated card)

I ordered my 8800GTS 640 and it arrived DOA. I was of course, miffed, talked to Newegg, they were, well Newegg'ish about it. I got sent a replacement, it was a different brand. 8800GTS 640 but from XFX. I was again, miffed, as I wanted my EVGA step up program. I called them again, it was a mix up, honest mistake. I got sent my EVGA replacement, but by this time the 8800GTS 640 went down $30 in price and even had a $50 rebate. (It was something like $400 at launch, now it was $320 after rebate.)

I called and explained that I spent $80 more because I wanted the card at launch and wanted to test it to get some reviews out and get some attention to my friend's Youtube account, and they reimbursed me the entire $80. They didn't just give me the $30 price difference, but the rebate amount. I didn't even ask for it, I just got it and they told me I would get free shipping and a discount on another card if I order it.

All misfortune, only makes reward that much more rewarding. You might not get a discount or any money from Newegg, but I promise you they'll keep an eye out for you the next time you shop with them.

Well my third one came in today and I thought it was DOA too, but I thought... hey maybe its my monitor... I decided to try my crt with the adapter and what do ya know? IT LIVES!!!

Another bonus to my streak of luck now is newegg says that they don't want the cracked card back because well... ITS CRACKED! I am going to try and see if that works with my crt and if it does then it is CROSSFIRE HD4850 TIME!!!

I am very very happy now, but disappointed since they don't work with my LCD screen

EDIT: The cracked card works with the CRT and I am now running in crossfire

All depends on the circumstances around the return, but yes they're an awesome company to deal with

OP correct me if I'm wrong, but I got the impression that he bought two cards, and returned the first DOA one, the replacement card was the cracked one, and the "third" card was just the second one he bought. If NewEgg actually shipped out a replacement for the cracked card without getting the card back, tell me I'm wrong, but I've never seen any store do that for high priced items (like graphics cards).

Yes they replaced his card and let him keep the cracked one that still works!

He bought one card total, the first one was DOA on the spot. He sent that one back for RMA and got the second with the cracked PCB. They sent him a replacement without him having to send the cracked one back. I know thats just blind luck....but i've seen it a few times with newegg.

It's because they consider it damaged during shipping so they just file a claim with the shipper and get their money back for the damaged card. There for they don't need it back so no point in making you waiste your money shipping it back to them for no reason.

So technically he lied...? I mean, he gave them the impression that the card didn't work, hence why they told him to keep it. It's awesome and all that he got a free working card out of this, but considering how great Newegg is...i dunno, perhaps test your items better in the future?

He did not lie... It is infact damaged!

It's not like something small broke on it, thats an important piece of the card!! it might stop working sooner or later never know... That area where it is damage is VERY fragile how it is now... Once he puts it in I would NEVER even try to attempt to take it out, if he does it might just break clean....

He didn't lie but it wouldn't matter if he sent it back because they still would have to file a claim with the shipper and probably would've thrown the card in the trash or givin it to an employee.

Most warranties state that any physical damage to the item will void your warranty, so I certainly would've called them the moment I noticed the card was damaged due to the reason stated above. Who ever the carrier was will have to eat the cost due to the damage caused. That's why items of this nature are usually insured against loss or damage.

I had a UPS package get damaged (a 4850 actually), and UPS requested the broken item for salvage to process the claim.

Maybe they have a different agreement with there comercial customers that doesn't require them to send in the broken merchandise for a claim, otherwise it could get to be a real headache for the people in the claims department.

Well at least that part of the board on the 4850 is probably nothing more than just board itself.

Congrats, sucks the second one is still technically "broken" but at least it works, and now u have 2 of them. I don't see how he lied either, if I had a broken product I sure would call them up right away before doing anything with it. Its not like it was his fault it was a faulty product and who knows it might not even work after X amount of days or weeks or months for all we know. Its just cool that it works now and hopefully will last.

He probably didn't need to ship it back due to it being the second DOA. Don't even consider try that. That would be ripping someone off.
