I bought a D-Link DWA-130 (802.11n USB adapater) today, because it was on sale for $40 (cheapest I can find it online is ~$45). I was actually looking for some RP-SMA connectors for a three-year-old cantenna project, but, as usual, they had none. Get it home, and what do you know but the drivers don't work. So I look at the adapter, and notice the model number on the back is for a b/g adapter.

...Radioshack will fully inspect returned merchandise. All original parts must be returned in like-new condition (except for defective items) to be eligible for return...

Funny how this missed that "inspection" and managed to be put back on the shelf as "new"... It will be making its way back to them tomorrow.

I work at radio shack and things like this do occasionally happen. It sucks that people are dishonest and repackage returns with different products. This happens a lot with our scanners, they think after 5 years of use and it breaks that they are entitled to a "free" one. So the customer purchases a new scanner places the old one in the box and tries to return the item. I've also personally spotted and turned away customers returning Micro SD cards of different size then labeled on the package.

Radio Shack will exchange or return your product and I don't see the problem here unless they refuse. Things like this do slip by, however, I would ask if you could be entitled to a free entertainment coupon for the mix up. That will give you $10 off a $40 or more purchase.

What happens with returns is the employee opens the box looks for the item and just places the item in the RMAC area in the back room. If the item is able to be sent back to the manufacturer to get repackaged it is shipped out. If the package looks in good condition they just place it back on the shelf usually with a warranty sticker which extends the manufacturers warranty for an additional year. If the item can't be sent back it gets scrapped.

Ouch! Hopefully you won't get burned by them accusing you of swapping the adapters. :-/
