when on com 2, I am told that it is sharring interupt but won't let me choose com ...error say's that cant open port?

I never had any luck with getting these modems to work, even with the software and drivers disks from the manufacturer.

Don't know what to tell you, but I would recommend that you pick up a good hardware modem - you'll be much happier

I had same problems but I got a different modem and it has worked fine

I had to deal with one of those with a friends Compaq. When I ran the software, it created the port. Before I ran the software, there was no com 2. I had problems trying to install it, but it was because I had the wrong drivers. Once I had the right ones, it installed and worked fine. But I still don't like winmodems.
