i need some advice on connecting both my xbox 360 and pc to my stereo which only has one set of rca inputs. My thinking is that I am stuck with either getting a switch or a mixer. I don't have both playing at the same time, that's not a big deal I just don't like all the unplugging and replugging that I'm doing right now. Any advice is appreciated.

get an RCA splitter from an electronics store.

yeah about that i already tried that but apparently my pc and xbox have two different "voltages" or something because i could only hear one source, my xbox, when the splitter was hooked up. good try though.

Sounds to me like you need a passive preamp.

Or you could do what I did, I bought an RCA-Headphone jack cord for my XBOX360 and connected that to my built in soundcard where you MIC jack or input would9pink) go, then connect my output jack(green) to my amp/speakers. Works great for me, but the downside is You have to have your PC on if you want to play with your XBOX360.
