While its a split fence of people saying its good and its a big tech demo. Well for all of us out there benching tool & actual game, this will make your system bend over and then some.....

http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=35087

Its the Upgraded Texture pack that someone was putting togeather. In that thread they where saying stuff about the performance, well it holds true.

In 64-bit DX9 @ 1920x1200 I went from a lovely comfortable 55FPS in benching, to a... um lovely 30FPS! Its a Vram soaker. Get some kick ass card with alot of memory and make sure it has 2 cores then run the game hehe at this res and it might work out nicely.

Side note..... ONLY use if you have at least 4Gigs of ram and running a 64-bit OS, with the 64-bit EXE. Otherwise you will probably crash before the level loads... im seeing usages around 3Gig for Crysis itself.

I'm totally getting this tonight. Too bad I've got only 512mb vmem. I played the HL2 Fakefactory mod as well.

Hmm this will be interesting to run on my 4870x2 when it arrives

Hopefully the 1Gig of memory per core will help out greatly with it, or at least the bandwidth. I don't think I could game using my typical settings I was using to even make it playable. Heck actually this morning I could only run 1 bench and then it was crashing Crysis... Couldn't even load up a level :(

Gotta try more of it this evening if SC:FA doesn't get my time.

That's what I was thinking, I'm not even going to try and run this on my 8800 GT. I wonder what's causing the crashing?

Btw you've finally got Forged Alliance? Good man! Let me know if you want a game sometime.

If you're using a 32-bit operating system, the crash is because they can't allocate more than 3.25 gb of ram to instructions. You pass 3.25, either a program is getting shut down or the system goes down. Blue screen of death on Windows XP? Usually a physical memory dump. Something went wrong with your memory and your system's safety procedure is to dump the memory FAST before your whole system goes down.

One of the big fixes of Windows XP because in Win98SE, memory crashes like that often took your system with them, well at least, they had a huge toll on hardware stability.

Interesting, but I think deathman20 is on Vista 64bit ... That or I'm imagining things. :D

Actually 32-bit OS can allocate 4Gigs... ~256meg is taken up for what ever + video card (512Meg in the case if 3.2Gig is left). As well in a 32-bit application it would crash at 2Gigs or before expecially if it doesn't have the large address enabled and the OS has it enabled.

Mine was with 64-bit OS, running 64-bit exe file hence why it can get up that far. I've had a wierd issue with my Crysis. Where it would crash during loading sometimes, not sure might just try reloading it to see if that will fix it (crosses fingers).

Yup Yup... finally getting some time on it got 2 or 3 missions left in the SP part. Much better than the original, and harder I think. Still suck on the MP side :) Will have to game again defiantly.

Looking at the comparison shots I don't think the increase is enough to justify the decrease in framerates.

I'm sure you can get similar results tweaking the POM in the console tbh.

Sweet, send me a PM when you want a skirmish. Might have to play over Hamachi though - my current router has some NAT issues with SC.

Think I used a German link last night was getting 300-400KB/s easy. Still was a lengthy download.

Heres a benchmark with everything full set without the mod...

Will post a benchmark (if I can get it too run correctly on 32 using 4G) after the mod...hopefully

nice, DLing now. I'm hoping for 10-15fps lol.

if anyone is getting slow DL speeds shoot me a PM and i can put up a temporary link on one of my servers. I kinda wanna see how much of a difference it makes on a variety of systems.

Thanks to Spion I was able to get the file in 40 minutes or so...and yes it ran on my Vista 32bit without issues...only using 2G of memory...

A few things I noticed right away...

1. It maxed out the memory extremely fast...which in turn made the benchmark run smoother
2. The graphics are better...but I dont see too many people being able to go out and buy 4870 X2's so they can play the game at playable FPS just for this mod...but man is it sweet to push your cards :D...

Heres the latest test...this is still done with only the X2...(didnt feel like installing the other card just to run crysis benchmark then boot back into XP)

As you notice I only took about a 2 FPS hit...but that is extremely noticable at that low of FPS...

I think the game is great...some boring levels which is usally normal Q4 ring a bell ;)...

The real deal is the graphics...you really need a card to run this game at full detail to really
