A month ago, when I first got my new system set up, I had lock up problems. I installed the newest via 4-in-1 drivers and my system ran great for a month, until today. Just now, my system locked up while I was playing minesweeper. I reset the system, but it locked up immediately upon entering windows again. My geforce 3 ti 200 video card was overclocked to 200/430, but that doesn't seem high enough to cause any problems. I just lowered the clock speeds to default and I'm running 3dmark2001, but I have a feeling it will keep locking up. If the lockups continue, does anyone have any idea what could be causing the problem? I'm desperate, I don't want to be miserable for the next week trying to figure this thing out again.
---
-Athlon XP 1600+, no overclock
-Alpha 8045 heatsink w/ Panaflo 39 cfm fan(Motherboard monitor has shown the cpu temp(I assume the first sensor is the cpu temp) to be no more than 40C at any time
-Soyo Dragon+ motherboard
-VistionTek Geforce 3 Ti 200, was overclocked to 200/430 when the lock ups started, now default speeds(testing as I type)
-Pioneer 32x CDROM
-Plextor 24/10/40 CD-RW
-IBM 40 GB 7200 rpm hard drive
-512 MB DDR Crucial ram(2x256)
-onboard sound
-onboard LAN
-I am using the 23.11 nvidia drivers, along with the latest via 4-in-1 drivers
-motherboard bios is latest

Sounds like a pretty nice setup...can you check your power in the bios? See what your +5v line shows...anything under 5 is cause for suspicion...
A few other things to try...reinstalling your detonators and via 4n1, and also while your at it, directx (if you can easily). Also, might wana consider going to Directx 8.1 if you haven't yet...I found that helped my GF2mx after putting the 23.11 dets on...I actually had issues with them until going to dx8.1...
If that doesn't help then do you have a spare video card you can use? You could try swapping out the gf3 for a bit and seeing if that solves it...there is a slim possibility your card could be an issue...
Oh yeah, and stupid as it may seem, make sure all your cards are seated...a slightly loose card might still work yet cuase issues...
Hmmm...I can't think of much else right now, and some of those are longshots anyway...I think if you check your 5v and reinstall the 4n1's and detonators and that should take care of things...
Let us all know if this helps...

I always find it's those damn 4in1 drivers that **** up my systems, what I would do is uninstall them and use the ones that come with windows thats always fixed it for me.

It's the 4-in-1 drivers that seemed to fix my lockup problem a month ago.

I haven't turned my computer on for 3 days, but I'm going to try to get my lockup problem fixed today.

Bad news. I had a lockup 15 minutes after I turned my system on this morning. I removed my geforce 3 card and installed my old tnt, but the system locked up again after several minutes.
There is one issue I've had that may or may not be related to the lockups. Before I upgraded my system, I had a problem with bootup. Sometimes bootup would work fine after I turned my system on. However, sometimes the power would come on but nothing happens, no video or bootup. Sometimes the system would just beep loudly like something was very wrong. I thought I might have had a power supply problem back then, but that problem went away when I installed my new motherboard and other stuff(using the same power supply). Anyway, after I just installed my old tnt video card, reinstalled the latest detonator drivers, and restarted the system, the system failed to boot up just like it used to do. I pushed the reset button and this time it started to boot up, but it got stuck just before windows begins to load. I reset again and this time it worked. However, as I said before, the system locked up within 10 minutes.
If anyone has any additional ideas, my ears are open.

have you updated all your mobo bios/drivers?
try a different psu..
reinstall windows.. (do a full level format)
do a full scandisk on ur hdd's, and anti-virus..
if none of those work then let me know and ill ask around and maybe we could get more detailed into this and get your problems fixed..

I should say that I had my geforce 3 and new hard drive working just fine with my old celeron system(of course, I had the bootup problem I mentioned before). It was shortly after I installed the new mobo, cpu, and ram when the lockups began.

The first thing I did when I got my new system put together was install the latest mobo bios. I have stated that with my system specs at the bottom of my messages.

hmm.. well you could try calling Soyo's tech support and see if they can give you any tips.. thats always something to try.. tech support has helped me many times, esp. when i do stupid things like not having my ti500 plugged in all the way, or not switching a jumper on the mobo right..
could bad ram do that, cause seems like u checked everything else?

Something very puzzling to me is that my lockup problems went away after I installed the via 4in1 drivers over a month ago. The computer ran like a charm for a month. Then last week the lockups came back for some reason.
