Are you getting any power to the mobo...i.e. fans, little lights, etc..

Just a heads up... this should be in cases and powersupplies OR general hardware (maybe);) Do you get any beeps? Do the fans spin. Or Nothing at all.

If your power supply is atx did you connect to Power switch from your case to the mobo

Exactly what I was thinking.

It should be a little wire running from the front of your case to a plug on your mobo. (check your manual)

:D

Well, this is something stupid that I did when I was building my computer. I had hooked everything else up right, including the power switch, and pressed power...nothing. It took me about 5 minutes before I realized that the PSU had a power switch too. Once I turned on the power supply, my machine came to life. :)

mine has a power switch also, but i know it was turned on

ok..make sure the "red" voltage switch is in the correct posistion...(on the PSU)..when I got mine it was in the 230 posistion and it wont turn on when plugged into a 110 plug.....and make sure the power switch cord end is on the right "jumpers" on the board..remember there is a positive and negative side...if I remember correct...

Is this with the same case you had problems with before?
Did you get a new (or another) power switch?
You could swap the power switch with the reset switch, or just cut the wires from the power button and put the bare wires together for a short period (less than a second, longer won't hurt but depending on how you've set the power savings it might go into sleep mode).

reverse the psu wire on the mobo it should switch on if not its a dead psu!

Or is your mobo dead???

is the power switch working??

RangerJoe

i know the psu isnt dead, and yes, my motherboard is jacked in the butt.....it fried....they think i have a bad southbridge and that is why my usb never got working, and it eventually just shorted itself out...or something like that...im thinking about trying to pay them a little extra and getting the pro-2 Ru....i want the new chipset....but anyway....a new board is good enough for me...as long as i dont have to pay alot

Athlonman

I hope you wont have to pay alot

RangerJoe
01-11-02, 07:20 PM
well when i bought the board, it was 119, and the pro2 Ru is 138...so it wont be bad

Lets see, if we could get all 12,00 +/- members to call them at once we ought to be able to tie up most of the incoming lines. Bound to get them then.:D

I was in your shoes about Christmas holidays.

My brother gave me his system unforunately I was wearing static clothes and I shocked my motherboard I think.

I was stumpted why my thing wouldn't turn on it was a dead motherboard it wasn't a good experience..

I feel for you..

Yodums, I have fried mobo's for many years now and if there's one thing i've learnt don't fry them with fish!!:D

I've never fried anything even though my CPU hit 150C on two (yes two) occasions!!!!

I learnt after that, burnt my finger very nasty though.

about all the members calling them at once..i agree...if i dont get to talk to them, then lets tie up the phone lines, and leave them like that for hours...hehehe...go to www.msi.com.tw/contact/main for their number
and then cnetpc.com for the other number....WHY CANT A BUSINESS JUST ANSWER THE PHONE!!!!

Stuck my hand in a machine a few years back, only took a few stitches to close it up but the finger has'nt been located yet. Sure messed up the touch typing though...:D

I can only think, "i've seen these posts from all sorts of people cutting themselves badly on high RPM fans" and yet I've yet to see a post about what to do to clean blood off your components after you empty a pint ans a half onto them.

Aslo, can't help but think "OWWW! Sonnova....!"

oh well, just my take
