I'm running a dual 4850 crossfire in my system and would want to run a second monitor. Unfortunately my CF does not function well with my second monitor. can i use another pci card to run the second monitor and does it work just like extending your desktop or would it have its own start menu and task bar? never tried this before any ideas. also would nvidia drivers mix with ati drivers?

any advise would help.

Here's another dumb question, i have a msi k9a2 platinum. and i have quad pci express there 4x pcie slots. can i use the first two slots for crossfire and install a second geforce 6200 pci or nvidia to the 4 pcie slot and would that work? or should i get a standard pci card for the graphics?

any advise?

"adVICE" with a "c"... not to be picky... but it's sort of my job.

And the best advice I can give you is to solve your original problem instead of trying to come up with a cheap workaround.

You say your crossfire setup "doesn't work well with your second monitor"... well why DOESN'T IT?

You paid for it didn't you? Why not figure out how to get it working?

well i was told that cf in general doesn't go well with 3d acceleration, but i also need a second monitor for standard desktop 2d browsing. so i'm trying to look if i can use a 3rd random card to generate the second monitor. just want to take full advantage of my cards without sacrificing lag and well bsod.

I think having both NVidea and ATI drivers in your system at the same time will create more problems and most likely wont work at all. I think you should do as rainless said get your Xfire working as it should. There has to be a way to make that system buz.
