Installation help

Hello -

I just bought a used Geforce 8,800 GTS graphics card, I think this is the 640mb version. Anyways, I had a geforce 7,300 512MB installed previously. I moved the 7300 to my second pci slot and then installed the 8800 in the first slot. Since then I have not been able to get my computer to recognize the 8800 in the first slot. Everything is working well on the 7300. I installed the drivers, and it still did not come up.

Any ideas? FYI I have two monitors hooked up to the 8800 and one to the 7300 that is how I know which card is working.

Is your goal to use both cards? Maybe one for a GPU and the other for folding or physx?

What I would do is only have the 8800 in the pc and see if you can get it to work. Then move on to installing the other one. Maybe the slot matters as far as which gpu gets to display to the monitor.

Yes, my goal is to use both cards. I know I cannot run them in SLI or anything like that, I am just trying to get the 8800 to run two monitors and the 7600 to run another. Whenever I put just the 8800 in my computer will just turn on, nothing will show up on the monitors and after a few minutes my computer tower will beep and then just restart. Nothing ever displayed on the monitors throughout this whole process.

Any ideas what to do? I am not sure I have ever had a card that was not being recognized by the computer. I am about to re-install windows. Not because of this, I just have been meaning to do it for a long time and figure this would be a good time to do it. Anyways, any ideas to get this card working? Or atleast confirm that it is not working?
