According to this review they are able to run a p35 board @ 8x 8x...how did they do that? http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=761&p=2 .. i have a p35 msi neo2-fr am i able to run 8x 8x?

"For starters, when running the P35 in its native 16x/4x configuration and forcing the P45 to do the same, we see a miserable 13.7% performance increase when adding a second card. Using a specially designed P35 motherboard that uses an 8x/8x setup improved this result dramatically, increasing performance by another 17.3% at 1920x1200."

well according to this page

the P35 board that was able to do that is the ASUS Blitz Extreme. It uses a "bridge" if you will to redirect 4lanes from the NB to the SB 4 other lanes. as normally a CF setup on P35 is x8/x4 not x8/x8.

you can read more about that board from here

on your board its going to be x8/x4 in a CF setup, not worth going CF on that board. you would then want to consider stepping up to X38/X48 or P45.

yea i know crossfire sux on this board already...i've ran 2x3850's and 2x3870's and i found in crossfire it made my ut3 game when playing online i got lag and joltness...when it was not in crossfire it was much smoother...but i only had a week to play with both setups....that was somewhere around 4-5 months ago...i was just browsing the net when i saw that the p35 was 8x8 i was like wtf...i did not see where it said it was only the blitz extreme thanks for clearing that part up...but actaully p35's standards are 16x/4x not 8x/4x...

as for the p45's compared to the x38's and x48's...im not real sure which guide is right and which is wrong...on some sites it shows the x38/x48 winning dramatically and on others its only a cpl fps...the max res i'd prolly ever run would be 1900x1200, i currently run 1680x1050...

well X38/48 vs P45 is one of those things. if your gaming at 1920x1680 then P45 is more then good enough. if its higher then that, then X38/48 is the way to go. the only reason P45 is able to stay up with X38/48 at 1920x1680 and lower is because of PCIE 2.0. which is why at higher then 1920x1680 the bandwdith X38/48 gets from x16/x16 pcie 2.0. keep this in mind PCIE 2.0 runns a higher clock rate then PCIE 1.0a, making a X16 PCIE 2.0 X32 PCIE 1.0a bandwidth. you see how the P45 is able to keep up in some cases?

in your case at 1900*1200 go with a P45 if you can. otherwise get the 4870X2 to hold you over for a while.
