Ok, some of you know I put together a system for my mother for christmas/ birthday. Now the idea was, to hook it up to her TV instead of buying a monitor for it. It's got an a TNT2 32meg TV out. Now the tricky part...
I installed WinME on it, so far no probs (stability wise). It's just an easier interface for her sake. I would have installed Win2K, but I'm not sure she would be able to navigate the system easily. So anyways, everything is installed, I drag it upstairs and plug it into her TV, but the windows enviroment is all blurry. As soon as I play a DVD, it looks fine (Movie). But when on the desktop it's really blurry, and almost impossible to read. I wanted to know if you guys think it's the Vid card that's the problem, or the TV doesn't support that high a refresh rate. The TV is a 27" Sony VEGA. I've tried connecting through both the S-Video, and regular RCA plug. no change. Any ideas?
all things being equal.... bump down the res to 640x480 256 colours and see if that works if it does creep up till it doesn't.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that already, and nothing. I'm at my wit's end here. It may be the vid card itself is defective, but I'm hoping it isn't. I suppose I can pop in my old PCI Diamond Viper, but then I'd have to throw in my decoder card as well, for DVD playback. I'm almost at the point where I'll give her my system and build myself a new one...
the tv-out signal is a dodgy one at best on most cards.. the tv-out on my card (kyro II) also gives a fuzzy horrible desktop, s-video or composite. it can't be helped... tv's just aren't up to scratch when it comes to computer pictures, and the tv-out is a secondary function of the video card and normally sucks.

You'll need either an S-Video cable, or an regular male to male RCA type cable (the kind you use to hook up stereo components). Just be sure to get good quality sheilded cable, or the RF emissions from your TV may cause interference with the signal.

All I can say is I have never had any problems with TV out on any of the ATI cards I have owned, a Rage Fury Pro, radeon 64 DDR vivo, and now a Radeon 7500 that can do TV out at 1024x768 HDTV supprot , so sweet on my 40" HDTV widescreen.
Picture quality is fine, as have tried it to watch movies from my pc to TV.

My TV-out is great on my 8500. Try a diff cable and how are you attaching it??? Scart S-Vid etc.
Make sure the resolution is low, otherwise it will go blurry.
Good Luck

...this is why we plug PC's into monitors and not into TV's in the main ...........
TV-OUT is there to enable you to play games on a big screen or watch video on the TV - not to be another monitor for your desktop.
