I'm looking at building my first HTPC, and am currently looking at my options for what IR device to use. It sounds like the most solid and robust solution is the IRTrans Translator, but at around $200 I'm having a hard time justifying buying it. (Esp with the entire system only costing ~$800 without it) Has anyone used the USB-UIRT IR Blaster that pcalchemy has listed?

What would be the advantages the IRTranslator would have over the USB-UIRT IR Blastor? I know the IRTranslator can do a cold boot, unlike the USB-UIRT IR Blastor, but other than that, what would the extra $150 for the IRTranslator get me.

Being my first time building an HTPC, and having no experience working with IR receivers, I know this question may be very elementary in nature, but I appreciate all the help in advance

EDIT:

I was originally looking at getting the Antec Fusion 430 case, but noticed the Zalman HD160 includes an IRTrans receiver. Does this have cold boot functionality? What other differences would I notice between this and the IRTrans IRTranslator unit? Thanks again.
