The power adapter that came with the card has a 6 pin molex plug that goes to the card to power it. Well, on the other end of that 6 pin plug has two ends that are both male. I am asking about this because normally when I see two ends coming out from something it had one female end and one male end.
I am wondering if this has 2 male ends because they both need to be plugged into molex's coming straight from the power supply rather than chain power to other devices as regular molex adapters do.

Does cards require double the power or would there be another 6 pin connection available on the card if this was the case?

Thanks in advance.

I think it is used to combine two rails if your power supply has that. If you have one large rail, then it won't matter.

Its meant to plug 2 molex plugs into it to provide the 12v power of one 6 pin dedicated line.

Ok, let me get this right because I don't want to fry my video card.

So this y-connector power adapter. The one side has the 6pin connector straight to the video card. The other ends are the male connectors and I must connect both 4pin molex connectors to molex connectors coming straight from the power supply right?
So this card will have two molex connectors powering it from the power supply. Sure this is right?

Thanks so much for help.

Yes if your power supply doesn't have a 6 pin you use both molex to supply the same power as the 6 pin would. I mean think about it...its not a pass through if you only needed one molex it would only have one not two.

I made a booboo. I accidentally only had one powered molex connected to the y adapter. The second one I plugged into it was actually coming from a fan which had no power going to it. So I only really had one of two powered molex connectors going to my 6pin on the video card.
The system ran with the video card fine, until I played a game, things were really choppy.
I noticed the problem with the molex and changed it to another that came from the power supply.
Started the system and it runs better.

Could the video card now be damaged?

No, it has safeguards to prevent damage. As long as it works now I doubt you damaged it.

I am wondering what it was working with with only one molex powered. Was it only using like half it's memory or something?

Thanks for answering my post.

Thanks for answering my post.It was running with half the amperage. It basically couldn't get enough power to run.
