Upgraded from sk6 w/delta 38 to the hhc001 coolermaster heatpipe ($39.99) .

My xp1800+ was previously stable only at 1610(140fsb) , but now I am running (as we type) at 1690(147fsb) , this is also with 1.8v not 1.85!!!

I don't care what thermistors say, as Ed would point out, the max o/c is the rule!

GET THIS COOLER!

Any of you HHC-001 owners out there willing to take a hacksaw to that heat pipe? I'm very curious to know what kind of wicking structure they have set up in there.

Y'know, several manufacturers have tried implementing Heat Pipe technology into an HSF, and I have to say, it looks like CoolerMaster has finally "cracked the code". The initial reviews rolling in put this right up there with the higly regarded Swiftech MC-462 and its successor, the MCX-462. What's amazing about it is that CoolerMaster has managed to do this and keep it affordable as a "high-end" price range HSF.

What excatly is a Heatpipe?? Wonder if they will do it with a 80MM HSF....?

Just read the article. The heatsink compare guide shows it the same as the alpah8045.

Kyle at HardOCP said a couple months ago the coolermaster had mentioned a "secret" they would be releasing soon. This must be it.

All in all, I would recommend this to anyone. Do lap it a little though.

My Alpha has a 70CFM Delta on it so I don't think it will.

Does really well, when I get my new CPU I can't wait, my 1Ghz @ 1.3Ghz @ 1.85V never goes 3C above ambient.

That in-socket temps or real probe temps?

Did anybody besides me look closely at those pictures in Joes article? I've done a lot of soldering in my day and the one pipe looks like the solder seal is fractured right where it meets the baseplate. Made me wonder it whatever was in it might have evaporated or at least not behave properly due to loss of pressure. Just a thought...

I don't think that there is anything magical about it...They just have put a conductive "pipe" that runs from the bottom of the HSF to the top of it...In other words, to covey the heat to the top of the HSF through an indirect means...

Unfortunately in-socket temps but i'm really interested in getting a probe. Touching the HSF though its dead cool, but no suprising seems as I have 550CFM air going through that case See it here (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52457) I think its stays low because the case in designed so the fans all blow through the drive cages and after a airflow mod (cutting grills) it acts like a duct straight over the CPU.

Even without G-Card cooling it still stays cool!! However it is very loud, about 60-70DB or more.....

I'd like to see my TRUE temps though. I think i'll do that when I get my 2200+, only problem is how can I mount the probe where I can see it easily???? I also want to monitor the temp of my 8500.

Yeah, Yeah....
I had my choice between that one and the next step down. (the 1 w/o the heat pipe) and I had to go with the 1 w/o the heat pipe because of clearence problems on my mobo.

AND IT CRASHED the minute I turned it on!!!!!!!!
Soured my grapes about CoolMaster - HAH !

Only major name brands and PROVEN PERFORMANCE buck-0.
That and I had to lap the sucker for an hour !

I'm kinda disappointed that Joe didn't slice the heatsink in half as that would have made his review the best one of them all....

http://www.overclockers.com/articles510/

Don't you want to know if the base is hollow and if the heat pipe has a mystery ingredient:p

EDITED this: I forgot Joe is methodical and the heatsink is probably not only cut in half, but he has all the components under his microscope :)

"Conclusion:
I do not know for sure how this heatsink is constructed and whether or not the "heatpipe" is for real - that's the next step. "

Like I said, I don't care if there's dog doodoo in there, it overclocks my xp1800 better than the sk6. End of story for me.
:)
Joe has said many times that thermistors suck , and the REAL test for anyone because of SO many variances in cases, fans, ambient temps, etc. is how far you o/c.

Isn't that why we are here?
I think I need a hug---- ROFL:rolleyes:

Oh ,and yes I KNOW my sig now says 145fsb - my network card kept crapping at 147. Not the sink's fault!
I know because it was only locking up when I went online.
