I was looking into building a workstation for rendering animation and video editing. I would like to go with 2 quad core cpus.

I was thinking these. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115130

but the only motherboard I could find was this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121330&Tpk=dual xeon

This motherboard is a 771 socket and the cpus I want are 775. Does anyone know of a motherboard that can handle 2 quad core(775) processors and preferably has 8 memory dims?

If not are the xeon processors worth the extra cost? Most of the xeon processors are marketed as server, except the extreme editions. Does that matter? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

No dual socket 775s other than the Skulltrail that I know about. You want dual socket you're locked into a 771. You find otherwise, let me know please! :bang head

LGA775 was never designed for SMT/Multi cpu support. As pointed out by Deep, its all LGA771. aslong as the cpu is LGA771 it will work in that board... if you really want that kind of power wait for dual socket neha boards hit..
