Well guys, i hada tread about my computer only scoring 10000 in 3Dmark06. I had an AMD set up and with every ones input have decided to build an INtel based and ATI set up.

I all ready purchased An E8500 CPU.
I want a mobo that will support crossfire in dual x16 bandwith which limits me to an x48 or x38 board.
I understand (if im correct) that i should go with the x48 because it is newer and will be a little more future proof.
Am i making the right choice to go with X48 vs X38

I have never overclocked before. However I am a very fast learner and know that i will be overclocking very soon. I would like a user friendly board that is very overclockable.

Ive narrowed my choices down to a few boards ( I want to stick with ASUS or Gigabyte), If i can get all the features for less then thats what I would want. I have had some good advise and was ready to get the gigabyte X48 but then came accross the ASUS p5e Deluxe X48 and the P5e Ramage.

The P5e Deluxe X48 has what i need and is cheaper than the Gigabyte Ds4 x48. But i am confused as to which to get. They also have the ds5 x48 but there are no reviews yet and then there is the DQ6 . With asus they have the p5e deluxe and the rampage model. I dont want to have issues with ram (that i heard the rampage gets rid of) and I am currently running ddr2 800. I hear alot of people saying to get the deluxe and flash the bios to the rampage.

So all in all i need some pointers as to which one to get, and why. Please let me know what you guys think.

X38 should give you same level of performance as x48. None of them is future proof either by the end of the year x58 will be out and that's completely different cpu socket.

All of the boards that you picked are good and should oc well and perform ok. Since I don't have experience with any of them I won't give recommendation.

I have the P5E deluxe and it is a fine board. If you're comfortable doing so, you can flash any P5E to the Rampage (link). I did it with my basic P5E (the X38 board) but haven't yet done it to my deluxe version. At this point, I would be inclined to get one of the X48 P5E versions and not the X38.

I've not used the more recent Gigabyte boards but they have a good reputation.

Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

If you really want to make that 8500 shin...Rampage Formula

I just sold my Formula last week and upgraded to the Extreme...

Believe me...you wont be sorry going to the Formula in everyting...performance/stability/Ocing...

Excellent BIOS for OCing...

Excellent VDroop and Voltage stability...

Odds are you will be able to push the 8500 higher with the formula over those other boards...

I went with a P5E Deluxe X48

Well i had been watching this auction and told my self that if i could pick it up for under $150 then i would go with the P5E Deluxe and flash it to the Rampage. If not then the Rampage formula would have been next. Turns out i got it for $134 Brand new :) not bad i think. Now its time to start reading up on how to overclock my E8500. Thanks for all the input Guys.

The P%e Deluxe X48 i got for $134
