well, im sick of my bad HS and i bought a taisol copper&80mm fan.
i cant install it, cuz i have things in the way on my mobo.. and i was wondering if i twist it 'the wrong way' (90 degrees left or wright) around and glue it with epoxypaste..
will this do ? and if i do this. do i haveto have my computer laying or can it stay up as it usely do?
thx alot..!!
Well, you could use Arctic Silver thermal epoxy if you wanted, put it will probably be permanent. If you do epoxy it, then definitely lay the computer down on it's side until it cures. Also, make sure the lever that locks the CPU into the socket can be released or you'll never be able to remove the processor. One last caution, the cam of the socket often sticks up a little higher than the rest of the socket. Lots of heatsinks have a recessed slot or groove to fit this. If you move the heatsink at an angle, make sure it stays in good contact with the CPU core and doesn't ride up on that raised edge of the socket.

ohh.. okey .. thx alot for the help batman..
but dont u think the core my break because of the heavy weight its gonna hold ?
and no, if i put this HS on, i can never take it off and the cpu stays where it is im afraid. but thats ok for me :) think this HS will rock...
im not sure yet though.. what would u have done?
i don't see the core breaking due the weight of the HS...what is it made of...lead?
RisullarN....I dont know about epoxying a HS to the CPU...it will work but I hope you get it right the first time. Make sure you have something to apply even pressure while the epoxy cures.
Was it you who had the BP6? I had to get my Globalwin CAK38 b/c of my old BP6. Cant use a HS with a base larger than 60x60 on either socket

yeah.. im running the bp6.. and its the same for me.. and the taisol is 80x60.. but if i twist it 90 degrees the 80mm side is vertical instead instead and then its no problem..
this is what ill do....
im gonna us strips under the cpu and up round the HS to keep it in place.. gonna use tape thats glued on both sides around the core to support it and epoxypaste on the cpu core itself and the have a book or something for pressure..
does that sound ok ?
What's in the way?
You can possibly fine down and sand the heatsink if capcitators are in the way of the heatsink as well.
