hey guys,

my last nVidia card was my 7600gt which didnt have shader clocks as far as im awear. and since i skipped the 8xxx series i never had shaders i went to my 4850... so what is this shader clock that nVidia have and ATi dont seem to have.

why dont ATi have one? How much does it help being able to adjust it?

its just an architecture difference found only on nVidias Dx10 offerings.

ATi's shader domain is clocked at the same frequency as the TMUs/ROPs. Nvidia's shaders are clocked higher than the TMUs and ROPs, although there are less of them.

Modern GPUs are made up of many smaller processing units, shader processors have their own clock that in some cases can be set seperately from the core clock.
