I replaced my Antec 450W PSU today with a OCZ StealthXStream 600W.

Now when ever I hit the power button I get a long, continuous beep and then the PC shuts off. I get a BIOS POST screen, all the fans spin and the hdd/DVD-RW are active... but the beep persists. After 10 seconds, it stops when the PC is shut off.

I made a quick little video of the problem to show the fans spinning and the POST screen.

Any ideas? I'm at a loss here.

Resolved

It turns out that my mobo has a setting to monitor my CPU fan and PSU/System fan. Since this PSU does not have a fan connector, nothing was plugged in and sounding the alarm.

Also, I think the stock cooler for my Core2 Duo E6400 came loose. The push pins on that stock cooler are a cruel joke. I'm not certain when it came loose, but if there wasn't enough contact and the CPU was heating up I'm guessing this is what caused the shutdowns more so than the PSU fan not being connected to the mobo.

In the end, I was able to get in to the BIOS long enough to tell the system to stop monitoring the PSU/System fan. I'm up and running again! Except for the new PSU didn't resolve my ongoing battle with my 1TB drive disappearing... guess I'll process that RMA on it after all.

Seriously, those clips/pins are criminal! I would buy a new HSF but I just spent money on a new, more reliable PSU that I will last me a few years.

I can't wait to replace this thing... and get my 1TB drive back from RMA.
