Can anyone give me some help on finding the proper way to pencil my AMD TBIRD 800 mhz processor.I saw many months ago how to tell if it is unlockable and the proper way to do it.

Thanks,
Harley

If you are speaking of unlocking your L1's then this should be of help to you.

From personal experience, I would tell you to go slow and use a very, very sharp pencil. Also, do NOT use one of those mechanical pencils...they will not work.

I've always used a Bic .7 MM mechanical (#2) and it's worked on 2 CPU's for months now..... though .7MM may be a little big. .5MM works better.

The reason that I have heard not to use a mechanical pencil is that the lead is different, and will not work. Well, so much for that...

yeah same here... i have used a Pentel Mechanical Pencil on two processors

both are still churring along unlocked

the main thing is..whether you use a wood pencil or not
is to make sure and get #2 lead

or something softer
a real hard lead will not lay downa good trace

A tip from my mechanical drawing class: if you're using a standard pencil, after you sharpen it, use sand paper to sharpen it still further. You want a very fine point, and this will get it sharper than any pencil sharpener alone.
