ive just installed a dragon orb 3 and its cut my temps down but ive got the 7000 (a1135) fan thats clearly marked on the packaging. Asus probe says that fan speed is 4968, so does MBM5...

i dont know if some how ive got the settings wrong although they seemed automatic to me or thermaltake have got the wrong fan in the wrong box.

has anyone else experienced this?

thanks

Those dragon Orbs have a checkered past.

In the early models they had a few problems with fans that didnt work at all or died prematurely.

I suggest you contact Thermaltake and mention that you are using the Heatsink and cant sent it to the vendor for replacement.

Its possible they will send you a new fan or new unit.

:eh?:

They sell both a 7k and a a4900 RPM Model. You might want to check the packaging and the heatsink itself VS the webpage. you may have been sold the wrong model.

http://www.thermaltake.com/

A1135 = 7000 RPM A1132=4900 RPM.

Also, I have one of these Heatsinks (Untill Newegg gets the Swiftec MCX462 off of Backorder) and You need to be careful of the pressures you exert on the fan while mounting. I had been leaning on the fan with a bit of pressure in an attempt to mount it. and I found out I had pushed the fan (in the gold portion) too close down to the blue heatsink portion. And the blades were minorly hitting the base. I just had to reajust the screws for the fan portion. But it did significantly affect the performance and rpm.

is there anayway of checking the fan (numbers, any indication...) to see which it is the 7000 or 4900 as i cant see any markings on the whole hsf that will indicate this

thanks

When I go home Today Ill take my machine apart and Ill check to see what I have. If memory serves me right I belive theyre should be some markings on the HSF. But I wanna be sure.
