I transfer large .AVI files back and forth from my two Quad video editing machines, and the fastest transfer that I get is normally about 265Mbps using the built in Gigabyte NIC interface on the motherboards.
Does anyone know for sure if I put one of these PCI-E cards in each of my computers if my speed might increase like this guy below says his did.
When I transfer from Hard drive to Hard drive within the same computer my transfer speeds are triple, so the CPUs and hard drives are capable of high speeds.
I have a a SMC 8508T 10/100/1000 switch with cat6 cables connecting my network.
This is the card I'm thinking of trying. Any suggestions are super welcome.

Pros: I tried several PCI cards before settling on this PCIe card. This card is 2x faster (as measured using iperf). The PCI cards were pulling/pushing around 280Mbps tops, while this card gets very close to 1Gbps (I've been seeing around 850Mbps).
Even though it is a x1 card, it works just fine in the x16 PCIe slot on my MB - which is great because that's the only PCIe slot on the MB.
Works very well on my x64 Debian Etch server.
