I've been contemplating ramsinks for my radeon to boost my overclock...

I have the radeon 64mb DDR se with 200mhz ram/gpu..
and can get my ram to 245...

well I bought an old heatsink for dirt cheap, I'm taking the hack saw to it, and gonna attach it to the ram..

BUT I noticed something...

there are the 4 ram chips on the side with the gpu as usual, but when I flip it over, there appear to be 4 ram chips on the other side at the exact same spot as the other 4, so basically It looks like I have 8 ram chips,

do u guys attach ramsinks to all 8, or the 4 on GPU side?
or am I just wrong?

The r8500 has 8 chips totalling 64 megs. You'll need to put sinks on all eight to cool it properly. I found a great deal at http://www.sidewindercomputers.com for the crystal orb and the copper ramsinks. Make sure you attach them with Arctic Alumina Epoxy. Good stuff...

I has ASII, I was gonna do the 'corners superglue' with middle ASII technique

get the arctic, it transfers heat way more effectively. it's like 9 bucks at sidewinders.

For Ramsinks invest the $7.95 and buy Arctic Alumina adhesive....Its not capacitive and its just way safer for memory ramsinks. Think of it as an insurance policy for your video card.

$ Superglue and Arctic silver adhesive will both work, but if you get the Arctic Silver on your memory pins your card most likely will be dead faster than an AMD without a heatsink.

$7.95 and Free shipping here on Arctic alumina adhesive (http://www.svcompucycle.com/araltherad.html)

Here is what a Radeon 64 DDR SE VIVO looks like after it has been modded with ramsinks and a lapped, and I mean lapped Blue Orb.

Alas, I sold the card for $200 Canadian and bought myself a Radeon 7500 for $227 incl tax which I have since modded out as well, a great upgrade, but I gave up vivo feature which I miss.

Had my 64 ddr vivo to a high of 245/490 and scored 4328 on 3D MArk2K1

so u left the other 4 ram chips un covered on the back??

with stock I can get 243ram/275core...

but I noticed core doesn't do much, where as ram speed does way more...
