For some reason my dvd drive isn't reading disks any more. When I put in a disk, it looks as though it is reading it, but never loads anything. I tried unplugging and replugging it, but it doesn't work. Also, when I have a disk in and I reboot, It won't start windows until I have take the disk out of the drive. Is there a way to fix this?
I got somthing close to that too.
but me its if i have the drive pluged on the mobo, the pc will jam at post wen it comes to deteting the cd-drive (if i switch of sata port to lets say from #4 to #1, it jams post right at start, if i put it at #4, it will detect all the stuff until it gets to him...)
so ya, dont know why but it hapend only after i reasembled my pc...*Case moding*
(BTW i did not want to start a new tread for somthing close so i post here, hope you dont mind)
and for your CD-drive, did you check if theres a new FIRMWARE availeble for it?
all i can think of.

Luckily the things are dirt cheap. I got a Samsung 3 years ago for $20.

You can both try your drives on another PC just to be sure but 9/10 times they are toast
