View Full Version : Tax Refund + Gigabyte MoBo = ???Celly
Alright, read the siggy...wanting to ditch the 900 in favor of a 1.0, maybe a 1.1...any suggestions? Getting rid of the mobo is NOT an option (?)...but there is no way for me to set dividers, or voltage (other than the wire trick), but I do have FSB options up to 150 (66, 75, 83, 100, 112, 124, 133, 140, 150)...I would rather have a celly because of the money, but if I get back enough I may spring for a P!!!...however, let's limit my options to a celly right now...
Or should I get another mobo to run my 900 on? this would be my second choice...
You guys have helped me in the past, and I've learned a few things from each of you...I'm looking for some good responses on this...help me out :D

The divisors are probably set along with the FSB speed range; i.e. 66, 100, or 133 MHz, either in BIOS or a jumper on the board itself.
Well how much FSB does your motherboard support up to?
It does look good as your 900 hit 1.2 already.
But I don't see how your 900@1.2 gig will effect big by getting a 1gig Celeron and ocing to say 1333 or something near there as there still running same fsbs and not much noticeable difference.
Your like at the end of the coppermine series and an upgrade for you would be moving on to the Tualatin core or the Northwood P4's.

mobo only goes to 150...what about a 1.2 Celly? I could get 1.6 out of it on that board, right? Or could I get more? I'm looking for the best chip I can o/c on this board, w/o having to get a new one...looks like I'll have about $125-150 to spare for the chip....any more info, people?
Or could I get more out of my 900 on another board?
bump....any more suggestions?

The Celeron 1,2 GHz has the new Tualatin core and it won't run in board!!! Max speed would be Celeron 1,1 GHz with coppermine core!!
But as Yodums suggested, I would also try to get a Celeron 1 GHz !!!with coppermine core!!! and overclock it to 1,33 GHz!
Well, if you didn't get my catch in my first post I posted, there's not much of an upgrade until you throw away both the motherboard and the chip to get something like a 1.2 Tualatin or 1.0a Tualatin, a motherboard which supports the chip or a Northwood P4.
moving my question to the mobo forum...thanx
