how much HD space do you have?

so just wondering how much space does everyone have for thier HTPC?

if not a awhole lot, do you keep movies on a server? or just hard copies? DVD, CD and whatever?


right now im pushing 3TB on my server, but plan on increasingn that to upwards of 7 to 10 TB.

i record tv shows and movies on my HD Tivo, and back them up to the server.

I keep about 750GB of storage on my home server, which I stream to my Xbox 360.

It used to be a bit over 1TB, but realized theres a lot of stuff I really don't care to archive. In the past I was a horder - every media I got my hands on I saved forever. Then I realized there was a lot of stuff I never went back and got any use out of.

These days I subscribe to Giganews - I get what I want when I want it, and archive it locally only temporarily - my favorites I still keep permanent copies of. My behavior change reflects increases in available home internet bandwidth - I can get things quickly enough that its not worth wasting space locally for it in the off-chance I may want to watch it.

I was doing the same thing for while.

The nrealized a 160gb stripe was over kill.

Now a single 80gb. a 320GB of r photos and stuff and a 750GB drive for video (currently removed to another location but will be going back shortly i think especially with 50 doallr 500gb hdds available :) )

my htpc only has 550gb. My desktop has 1.6tb, so I can move stuff over to that on the gigabit network as needed.

Right now I have roughly 1.5 TB in the box now, but I want to set up a unraid server with the ultimate capacity of 15 TB by using 1 TB drives. It would be 22.5 TB if I bit on the 1.5 TB drives just released. But by the time I have 15 TB full I am sure they will have hdd's alot bigger then 1.5 TB out.

20 GB OS drive, 200 GB for videos but shared with photos and music so probably only 100 GB for video. I mostly use it for time shifting TV shows and delete afterward.

Ive got a 500G external, a 120g backup drive for all my important stuff, and a 640 in the computer.

HTPC... has a single 80gb hd. music is stored on main rig, other stuff stored on server... but i maybe use 20-30% of my total hd space between the 3 comps. never been a big user of hd space.

I have 4x1TB and 5x500GB with 5.5TB of that usable on my unRAID server (1TB is a parity drive). The 500GB are soon to be upgraded.

I have 2.75TB in my WHS box that store pretty much all my media files. on my HTPC server (living room HTPC that also serves the rest of the house) has 1TB HDD space in it. however, I'm in the process of combining both together and make all the rest of the HTPC as a thin client/extender instead.

sorry off topic a bit. the NTFS supports up to 16TB, but MBR disks only support up to 2TB. In other words, 2TB will be the max.
