I've seen it mentioned a few times, just wondering who here use to play, what server, what class, etc.

I was on Bria. I did Pistoleer/Fencer before the dodge nerf, as well as TKM/doc for a long time, with a little bit of BH/Pistols and some CM thrown in from time to time. I stuck around for the CU, did CM/BH for a while and enjoyed actually killing Jedi for once (gg 85% block). I quit before NGE, but I got a free two month renewal from SoE and went back a few months ago to play NGE and wow. I had heard it was like a FPS now, but I had no idea how that was possible until I played it. Talk about running a good game into the ground. Even without end game, leveling was fun, guild wars were great, and PvP around Theed and Bestine/AH was always fun. Even chilling in the Cantinas with the entertainers was enjoyable. Ahh the memories.

I played The NGE for about a month or two this summer. Had fun for about half of that, then it just stalled out and you had no where to go. Got bored and went back to eve and I'm happy now.

But go ahead and check out the links I gave you, launchpad will install all the files for you so you can play on the SWGEmu pre-cu test center until it is released to the public. Have fun. :beer:

I played on Naritus, I had a couple accounts.

Started playin gright at launch, worked through BH when it was HARD AS a MOTHER &$*$&#. Did the Holo grind, became a Jedi, spent untold hours grinind Jedi xp, had a full temp Jedi, kicked much butt, got nerfed, got nerfed again, got nerfed again, CU came out, thought it was kinda decent, rebuilt my Jedi specifically to kill BHs had a lot of fun with that..... NGE came out, I cried. went back to WOW, gave up on WOW went back to SWG, and PVPed till that got boring.

I had up to 5 other characters at one point, all kinds of different classes, Doc, CM, TKM, pistoller, etc etc etc etc.

SWG and WOW sucked up WAY too much of my life. I won't touch an MMO now.

Seams like we all played SWG back in the day. "Malpine Walis" and I had great times and great adventures. Sad really the way it ended... no real closure. Still the best crafting system in a game if you ask me. Yes I was Jedi a real one....

Yeah I knew about SWGEmu but last time I played it, they hadn't got combat or anything working. Might check into it again.

Yeah crafting was a great system. The apprentice point system on the other hand... 4/4/4/4 Guardian ftl.

Bloodfin, Maci started after CU, ground up a Chef/MCH, got tired of crafting, went CM/CH. Played that til nge, then they took my critters. haven't been back.. swgemu....that has possibilities

I hated the CU (and went to Indianapolis to tell the devs they were going to screw themselves as well as the players if they went through with it--too bad they didn't listen to everyone there), but I tried to stomach it for a while. When the NGE came, I went.

SWG is one of the several reasons I boycott Sony to this day.

One can PvP in just about any MMO. But you can't customize and change your character like you could in SWG (Pre-CU)--AND--as geeky as it may sound, I had more fun CRAFTING custom items for people as well as for myself than I did running missions/raids.

One of my favorite pastimes was crafting stims (as a master doc) and experimenting them so that lowly medics could use doctor level heals.

I played Lomei (Doctor/Rifleman) and Roc (Ranger/Rifleman). Sqirl was the first mayor. Being an engineer, he had all the materials necessary to build a city hall on the first day they were available. His first build was successful, and we ran (no transportation back then) to the spot we had already planted most of the city founders' houses and ended up being the first city on the server.

We later moved Kestrel to its present position after transportation became available. The new spot was a nice open area that was nowhere near any other city, but near several POIs.

Pohl is the member I know who still plays regularly and still lives there. The med center may still be named "Lomei Jit'u Memorial Medical Center" :D

I remember you as well. Wasn't Laredos directly west of Kestrel? If I remember correctly, you built your city around the dark (grey?) jedi which allowed people to farm him (you could shoot him from between buildings, but he couldn't walk between them).

What's even more surprising is that I live probably 15-20 min away from you. In fact, I'll be heading to Kenosha tonight for a class at Gateway.

Lol, yup, laredos was due west of Kestrel initially. And yeah we wanted it built around the Dark Jedi POI. Remember that Walk from Moenia???? Man did that suck. Took like 15-20 minutes. And if you happened to not be a higher tiered combat class, it could get downright deadly. I can remember having to run "escort" missions to get non combat classes into the city.

ahh, those were the days, when it took 3-5 hours to do a single BH mission. And the LLC was UBER. I miss my BH/CH builds, those were just plan nasty. Can't say I miss that holo grind though.

Our guild broke up and reformed as sVn, and decided to relocate into Kestrel around the time you guys decided to restructure the city. Lol, totally funny that you live like 15 minutes away. Even the internet is a SMALL world.

Haha talking about pre transportation reminded me of the 10 min wait for star ships and before JTL, having to go through connecting planets.

But man, do I miss base raids. On Bria we had so many people doing base raids we lagged the whole planet. People 10km away from the base would rubberband all over the place trying to get anywhere. Good times.

The first few weeks after laungh were crazy. For starters, the game wasn't balanced at all. The terrain mapping was WAY off, and the creature spawning was just plan funny.

You could walk out of a city, and see spawns floating hundreds of feet up in the air. The system though recognized them as being on the ground. So it was a pretty often occurance that youd get attacked by something you never saw, and that you couldn't shoot at because it was "out of range" as it was 300 feet over your head, but somehow it coudl hit you. Oh and the first week they had corpses retrival on, that was a hoot. Nothign liek having your corpse sit in the middle of a massive hive spawn. Basically no way for you to get to it without dieing over and over again. Mission payouts were too low too. it took me like 2 weeks to get enough money to take a shuttle off of Tatooine.

haha That's kinda what it's like now. The planets all lag sooo bad that it's almost unplayable. I don't know how people stand it. Plus, making Jedi the only melee class is so lame. </3 SoE </3
