Can anyone tell me how to REMOVE Windows Xp? This was a clean install. My maxtor hardrive software won't work, and I have run out of options
Welcome to the forums!
Get a DOS bootdisk. Boot up to it. FDISK the partition off. Format it.
Might find a full Win98 bootdisk at BootDisk.com (www.bootdisk.com).
What operating are you planning to install?
If your CD-ROM is bootable boot from it and it'll clear some stuff, but if your say going back to Windows 98 its utilities are not so powerful and as to my knowledge there not good enough to wipe out the whole MBR.
Get the Win'2000 bootdisks delete the partition that you want and then insert the Win'98 bootdisk if your going to install win'98 create partitions..
If your going to install with Win2K then keep on going with it, but if you don't have the Win 2000 disc then your going to have to load up w/ the Win XP bootdisk.
