I've got a really nice watercooling system setup that includes a Eheim 1060 (600gph) pump, a DD NB block, a DD Geforce block, and a homemade copper spiral. I've currently got a 6 gallon res a radiator outside so my temps are around 10c idle to 27c full load.
Since the res and radiator won't do me much good in the summer I'm getting prepared to switch over to a water chiller. I don't want to go w/ a pelt chiller because the are quite ineffiecient. So far some sort of evaporative chilling seems like the way to go.
I'd love some detailed info regarding this or any other suggestions or ideas you all may have.

Thanks:)

Btw, anyone know how Macci made his R404 chiller?

Have a look at the article I wrote on using a refrigerator chiller on the main page or http://www.overclockers.com/tips777/
Depends how low you want to go but fridges are quite flexible. Can have mine set to control the CPU in a temp range form -6C to +10C.

Tiger,
Thanks, I'll give it a read.

Dont rule out TECs yet, they can be made to operate efficiently
with a good design.

You can make a heat exchanger using your domestic water supply. It depends on how cold you tap water is and what laws there are regarding it. I have my own personal supply, (artesian well), so I could use it. I'm not doing it that way atm, but have a tank underground to cool the coolant. I'm currently getting 11.4 C and it's about 14C in the summer.

Yes, I've seen your "bomb" setup, very nice indeed. :)
I do have an artesian well and the tap water is quite cold, but I'm hoping that I can get some below freezing temps.
So far the idea of getting a freezer and converting it to a water chiller seems ok.

Docj,
I have a feeling that w/ the amount of cooling I'm looking for tec's would be a little inefficient. Do you have any recommendations?

Maybe a combination then, If you can cool your coolant to say 10C with your well water before going into the freezer it could be good, and put less stress on the freezer.

If you could provide a few more details like what temps you would like for you coolant, how many watts you need to disapate. I could provide you with some more info.
