Please help with dvd's

I have a geforce 2 mx400 visiontek which im pretty sure is capable of playing dvd's with the tv-out but my problem is:

When I boot with just my monitor plugged in dvd's work fine. When i plug my tv in the dvd wont play on either .

I was wondering if it will work with just the tv only?

i have this exact same problem with my kyro II, but it's only with widescreen dvds. my samsung dvd-rom plays them fine when only the monitor is plugged in, but as soon as i plug the tv in, the computer hangs, and then reboots.

i have to divx them before i can watch them, and then the tv works fine.

i'm using power dvd to play dvds, but windows media player doesn't do any better. what software are you using?
