OK, say I have a temp sensor, like from a compunurse, whats the best way to mount the sensor to the processor to get the most accurate readings? If you have any pics, they would be helpful. Sorry, Im a visual learner.

Depends on what type of sensor you have. If its a probe type sensor....what I did on one of my machines is I measured the distance from the side of the heatsink to the center of where the processor core "touches" the heatsink. Then I drilled a hole to end at the point (or close to) where the core is, put the sensor in there and made very sure to fill the hole (with the probe in) full of Artic Silver. And make sure that you don't leave any little air bubbles in there. Anyway, it works very well, but you have to do it carefully and correctly or else it really won't be worth the trouble. Good luck. And remember this is only a suggestion. :)
P.S. Be sure to cover the lead/leads connecting to the sensor, because Artic Silver 1 or 2 is partially conductive and you don't want to go to all that trouble to get bad readings. Happy modding.
DO NOT USE ASII TO FILL IN THE HOLE WITH THE TEMP PROBE!!!!! A thick layer of ASII will work like a thermal barrier thus giving you wrong readings. Use ASII Thermal Epoxy/Adhesive to "fit" it in the hole.
If the profile is flat enough you could have it contact the edge of the core.

Artic Silver Compounds are NOT Conductive. See what Senior Member Colin states on this. Nevin Too, Although not about the conductiveness but the capaveness (i know i mispelled that but you know my point)

What type of sensor is the best for fitting under the HSF next to the core? Where can I get them?
