er... no like the zalamen radial cpu heatsink it is designed for no noise operation and performes worse then the stock heatsink in the two reviews i have seen of it

They also sell these clips so you can mount a 80MM or 92MM fan over it!
Sorry for all the posts!

i know, zalemen have a range of heatsinks for low noise operation such as cpu heatsinks and that gpu heatsink, i dont think you are bothered by noise so dont get it

I was gonna stick a 80MM fan on it!!!! I was thinkin if its good without a fan then wat with??
Hey does this Northbridge cooler look good to you?
Dimensions : 37W X 37L X 32H mm

get two and stick fan so them, one for your northbrige and one for your gpu

I doubt that it will beat that iCU cooler, and certainly not the cooler I just posted because its copper.
Where can I get decent ramsinks? I dont wanna buy 2 sets of mem kits.
As you are in the UK try these,
link (http://www.overclock.co.uk/moreinfo.php?id=400)
These guys are very helpful and deliver fast.
The copper RAM sinks work pretty well, adding a small fan somewhere nearby keeps the air moving and allowed me to get another 10MHz out of my GRAM.
Happy hunting.

aluminum can beat copper in some cases nick, especially with that heatsink

Reckon the Northbridge one could beat the Icu cooler? Wat about the one I posted. ITS HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read that a Blue orb beats the Zalman if no fan is used.
Want some advise? Avoid that Zalman for your Gpu;) Much better solutions to that particular hsf.

What is the VERY best cooler for my 8500?? The ramsinks posted earlier seemed ok (although a bit small but size shouldn't matter) I heard the Alpha one was good, or the ICU cooler?
Any ideas? I want to go as high as possible.

The big black heatsink looks like my Asus heatsink just a bigger version.
The best GPU heatsink I would recommend would be the Crystal Orb..

Nick,
Here's my top five List:
#1)Watercooling the GPU
#2) Cooljag (http://www.mikhailtech.com/articles/cooling/cooljagjac311c/)
Problem is the size of 66L x 62W x 24.5H mm (with fan)
This will need a bit of modification and not really a rational option for a 8500

#3 Alpha Pal 153
http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/cooling/roundups/122001/alpha_3.jpg
@60mm x60mm x 25mm (with fan) Slight modification with a dremel to the top left corner.

#4 Dynatron DC1206BM-R
65.5mmx63mmx24 (with fan)
http://4.33.248.150/productImages/DC1206BM-R.jpg
Definitly nice but the largest and probably not suitable for an 8500
#5 AOC and Speeze
Speeze (http://www.so-trickcomputers.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=S&Product_Code=S7&Category_Code=C3) 1U All-Copper Or AOC copper iu heatsink (http://www.nexfan.com/29/171.htm?95)
One is 64mmx60mm and the other is 64mmx63 and both will need to meet Mr dremel.
Silversinksam (and folks),
Just got my Cooljag, the taller one? Are there any particular reasons that you don't recommend this one instead? The current Cooljag is working fine but not exceptional, w a 4800 RPM YS Tech 60mm, and AS3.
Before I was using Al. Justcooler P8000 (no AS3) with a 3000rpm 80mm fan. Then I put a 3-blade Delta 80mm on it (no AS3) and it's really cool but after a few hours of whinning I gave up. I then put the Delta 80mm on the Cooljag (with AS3) through an adaptor. The temp was a few degrees higher than P8000 w/ Delta. I then put another slower 80mm on it and it was not MUCH worse. Then I put the current 60mm on the Cooljag which is 1 or 2 degree cooler.
Barring any procedural mistakes, primary findings:
(1) AS3 is not much better than no name free paste, considering the $
(2) Skived Cu HS may not be much better than cheapo Al. HS
(3) 60mm/80mm adaptor does hinder cooling performance
(4) fan speed is most important on cooling effect, the rest is hype
(5) Delta noise really sux, it's not that loud, but keep whinning...
(6) 80mm fan can work well with HS designed for 80mm fan
any comment welcome. I'm a bit disapointing with my cooling upgrade.:eh?:
And...lapping. is lapping (with water) a Copper HS problematic as water facilitates rust? The Cooljag is quite mirro-olished already...

AS3 kicks normal paste that comes with the computer by a long shot, if 10 degrees C means anything to you then you would get AS3...

Soil,
You mention you used AS3? How is the Iu cooler actually affixed to the gpu?

sorry, what is Iu cooler? gpu? I was using it between the Cooljag and the PIII...

I haven't put tthe 2 pastes on the same cooling set-up to directly compare, but in the P8000 I used the white cheap one come with the heatsink and on the cooljag AS3 was used. It seems that the total performance of the cooljag+AS3 is not that impressive...well supposingly if correctly applied the layer of paste put oon the die should be extremely thin and I really doubt that such an extremely thin layer of semi-fluid can really make that much difference...and whether AS3 can ouut run the cheap freeebie one by that much...but maybe the PIII is not that hot (34C surfing, system hanged on 42C by Toast within a minute) that AS3 needs more extreme or demanding situation (TB1.4?) to show its ability...
I just read that copper HS need strong wind maybe that's the problem the 4700rpm YS Tech 60mm may be inadequate...but man...the delta is really annoying
this may be a bit prejudicial but I have an impression that ANY heatsink with a good paste or not can perform well witth a Delta screamer...

I was looking at the same heatsink for my chipset. I'm thinking it looks good. I was thinking I'd get a shining fan to drop on the top of it.
