hi everyone,

I have a problem with this combination, when everything is on default settings it works like a charm, but I when I try to overclock the cpu, everything goes smooth except when I restart vista, then on powering up I get 4 beeps meaning "NO VGA detected", my build is this : p5k premium mbo, 2x2gb crucial 6400, sapphire 4850 toxic, 2*36gb raptor raid, enermax liberty 620w.
I really dont know why I get those beeps on POST and black screen on restart, while on default and when I overclock it works perfect(until restart), orthos stable for couple of hours,3dmark 06 and vantage few passes.
please help.

hmm sounds like its unstable... what fsb are you running that cpu at? did you disable pci-e spectrum or something like that?

make sure you set the pci-e bus at 100 if your still getting those errors try 105 maybe even 110 if it still does the same then im out of ideas sorry

edit* have you tried running prime blend?

every FSB higher then default on restart gives beeps, but on first go its stable on every test even on fsb500 understandably with correct voltages.
I didnt disable pci spectrum, I ll try pci bus on 105,and will post results.
Thanks mate.

xtkxhom3r you solved my problem, when pci bus is set on 105 everything works great, no beeps on restart(even on FSB higher then 450).Thanks.

Vladozg: Good to hear your problem resolved, and Welcome to the Forum! :welcome:

xtkxhom3r: I do the same thing on my P5K; disabling the pci-e spread spectrum and bumping the freq to 101 or 105. My question is, why does this work to relieve stability issues?

My 8800Gt used to do that with my p5k, soon as i bumped pci-e to 101 worked like a charm. My 4850 seems to do fine at 100 thought.

from what i understand when you bump up the freq to oc your cpu it also bumps up the freq between the vid card and the fsb and thats bad because most video cards dont like to go over 100 and when you do push them hard they burn out... so your lucky your card still works lol.... and im glad i can help welcome to the forum bro
