I'm thinking of upgrading to a 22" monitor to replace my 17" at 1280x1024 resolution. Will i see a huge drop in performance in games? I know i'll still max out every game and get 60+ fps, but im worried about crysis lol :P

a jump from 1280x1024 res to 1680x1050 is a pretty big jump, especially if you play crysis
you can still play crysis at a lower resolution, also depends on what settings you play crysis at. you may have to turn them down abit for 1680 res
any game other than crysis with your 4850 wont really take that much of a hit, if any

You will see a drop of 2 orders of magnitude..

Crysis is gonna be the only game that takes a serious hit, other games should still fly.

Your 4850 is nice, I don't think you will see a huge drop, but there will be one.

1280x1024 seems pretty high for a 17 inch monitor. My 22" Samsung touch of color is 1280x1024, are you sure that's right?

If thats the case then it's running at a res that it shouldn't be. It should be 1680x1050.

just turn it down to 1440x900 if the performance at 1680x1050 sucks, which I really doubt. If I can run it playable then you surely will.

the gain in a bigger screen far outways a few less fps in my own opinion.

I honestly think you will be fine. You will lose performance but you're still way over the playable fps bar for Crysis. Especially with a 4850. I was able to play it with playable frames on a OC'd 3870 with medium/high settings @ 1680x1050.
