Hi
I have bought a vapochill system, and I am very excited to get it up running. But I have seen several ppl crushed there athlon cores. And basically I am not interested in crushing my new Athlonxp 1800+ :)

So can someone come with some good tips to how I avoid crushing that core?

welcome to the forums

i belive koolance have a very nice hold down device that makes a crack noise when tightened enough.

but to minimise the chances or the core cracking get a shim, they go around the processor die to stop the heatsink/waterblock from rocking, i have used a tweakmonster shim and think it is very good, any non copper shim will be fine

To my knowledge their core's corner are being chipped when mounting so best to get a shim and just use it when mounting it because it won't affect anything as the water is very cool.
