which hdd for raid 0

hey i always hear all these good things about raid 0 so i decided to give it a try i want to buy 2 7200.11's because the raptors are too expensive lol.. so what do you guys think about those seagates?

is there something a little bit better that you would recommend for about the same price?

im going to buy either 2 320's or 2 500's heres the link

2 Western Digital 640's - period, if not those then some samsung F1' - they are the best out there next to the raptors (raptors just have faster seek times)

I have a single 7200.11. It's relatively quiet and fast so I'm thinking of buying another to put in raid 0. Each platter on the drive is 250gb, though the 640GB WD drives have 2x320GB platters which makes them faster.

Both are going to give good performance in Raid 0. I'd advise you look at the prices on both of them and decide whether you think the WDs are worth whatever price difference there is.

BTW if you go with the 7200.11 then buy atleast the 500gb version as it has 32MB of cache which helps.

I honestly dont know if this is any good for raid or not...just know its a lot faster then my single 1TB 32mb Seagate....

so you think 2 320's are better than 2 500's?? and iv never heard of those f1's are they alot better than the .11's?

the F1 are up there, the 11 series are nice but the new seagate 7200.11 1.5T drives are now competing with F1's and such

from the last i read

the WD 640G drives are ruling right now for price per gig per performance, over all they are awsome, i just got 2 and am blown away at them.

the price per gig is where buying 2 x 320' drives is not worth it as for a few dollars more you can get 2 500G drives or the 640's which perform better.

well iv been looking around and it looks like they do 170mb/s so thats pretty good...maybe later ill add a 3rd one to make it to like 250

sorry to push in the middle of this thread, but i have similar question.

i'm going to go for RAID0 and i'm ordering 2 of those 1TB F1's. is it a reasonable choise or should i go for another kind of setup? i'm going to have the ordinary versions of those drives and not the raid edition. price difference is about 100e and after all i have external 500GB drive for backups. on top of that i don't do any "data safety" intense stuff with it, just gaming and some image/video stuff so i think it should be ok. am i totally wrong in there?
