When I last had an NV card the flat panel scaling options didn't work. I could change the option would just never be applied properly, after saving the changes and closing NV control panel I'd go back in and it would be reverted back to normal iirc. This was through a few driver revisions from 160-something to 178 or so. Are they working yet, can anyone test them? Be sure to turn off your monitor's scaling if it has that capability.

With the 177.92 drivers, it is working correctly. I was just playing Jedi Academy last night with them. :)

Good to hear it's working for someone. I wonder if the card series has something to do with it, I see you have a 9800GTX, last NV casrd I had was an 8800GTS 512. Anyone else with different cards have any input?

It just means that when displaying a 4:3 image on a widescreen the video drivers will either maintain the proper aspect ratio but stretch the image to fill the screen vertically (black bars on the sides) or display the image with the exact same number of pixels (black bars all around.) It keeps a 4:3 image from getting stretched or distorted as would happen when the image is stretched to fill the whole screen, since some monitors don't have the function built in or working properly it's nice to be able to do it through the video drivers.
