Which chip is better ?
is there a real difference in speed ?power? performance?

are the MP's or the XP's more valueble ?

ive tried to find a way to compare the two but i am haveing a difficult time finding any real information about the differences
except for one is for single chip boards
and the other is for dual chip boards

any help here is GREATLY appreciated

Generally speaking, they are the same exact chip. MPs are unlocked where XPs are locked, however.

MPs are thought to have a slight difference in architecture when compared to the XP in the way they are optimized for multiprocessing, but I have yet to see anyone prove this as of yet. White papers and tech documents from AMD are, for the most part, inconclusive on the matter.

As far as benchmarks and such go, they perform pretty much identically.

In fact, I saved about $100 by buying two XPs for my dual Athlon system since they are detected as MPs by the board. They perform just as if they were MPs.

The one reason I am going to buy an MP over an XP........its factory unlocked :D no bridge bs, unless you want to mod the voltage on the chip. I would try it, but I don't want my first XP processor on my keychain.
